Government College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector 50, Chandigarh organized the tree plantation drive. The event was a collaborated effort of NSS unit and the Environment Society AVNI of the College .Principal, the staff members and NSS volunteers planted the saplings of Peepal, Banyan, Neem and other shady plants. In total 100 saplings were planted. The new building of the college is still under construction and the open areas and garden areas are yet to be constructed, so the saplings/ trees were planted in the pots of varied sizes. Big Cemented Gamla’s were used to plant trees by teachers which will be shifted later to the areas demarcated for trees.

The NSS volunteers planted saplings in small pots which will be taken care of by them. To sensitize students regarding environment, the remaining saplings were distributed amongst the students to plant them in their houses or in open spaces nearby. In the post event ceremony, Principal Mrs Manjit Kaur shared her views on the significance and need of green and clean environment in the era of globalization. Every one participated with great enthusiasm in the drive and assured to conserve the environment for making it possible for human life to enjoy clean and green environment.
