Contemporary Practices in Modern Business

Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh organized  a One Day  National Seminar sponsored by College Development Council, Panjab University Chandigarh based on the theme  “Contemporary Practices in Modern Business: Opportunities and Challenges” on 21st February 2017. The seminar was a remarkable, memorable and knowledgeable event where many eminent personalities from different galaxies deliberated on the Business opportunities and challenges which is the key focal area in the domain of humanities in recent times. Post demonetization, many issues of managerial practices and overall aspects of the impact and contribution of changes have taken place so rapidly that it needs to be re looked and analyzed as how these changes affect all aspects of the corporate world. To address this issue many researchers, Professors, management scholars, students, technocrats and educationists from all over India participated and shared their ideas in the technical sessions based on various inter-disciplinary themes such as Human Resource Management, Innovation and  IT, Finance and Audit just to name a few. Near about 92 delegates attended and presented their papers in the seminar.  

Prof Dinesh K Gupta (Dean University Instructions, Panjab University Chandigarh) was the Chief Guest and Prof. (Dr) S .K. Chadha (Chairman, UBS PU, Chandigarh) was the Keynote Speaker for the inaugural session.  Prof Dinesh highlighted the need to focus on changing our system so that our students are well equipped with the competencies which also create value with emphasis on the purpose of existence for the business organizations than serving for profit needs. Prof S.K Chadha in his key note address emphasized on multi various contemporary issues and highlighted that seeing the political changes in the world DE-globalization may also be a reality and we need to accept the challenge and prepare to cope with volatile effects it can have on the business world. The need of the hour is the holistic engagement of the human resource in any organization but above all protecting our environment in this era of technological development is of utmost importance for the survival of humans themselves.

Other eminent personalities included Dr. Nitin Gupta (Head of Department, LPU, Jalandhar ) who chaired the technical session I, Prof (Dr.) Sanjay Kaushik UBS, PU Chandigarh) & (Hony Director ICSSR NWRC, Panjab University, Chandigarh) addressed the gathering in the Valedictory Function.
