For supporting the campaign of Digital (payments and receipts) financial transactions with the motive of less cash society, Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh took part in this campaign. The Volunteers made efforts to make people learn to carry out financial transactions digitally under the guidance and motivation of Dr. Bikramjit Kaur (VISAKA College Nodal Officer).
More than 4500 institutions in the country participated in the campaign in which 1089 volunteers were selected. Based on the work done by the volunteers and evaluation by the MHRD team, 20 Best Institutes were invited at National Convention of VISAKA on 8th march 2017 at Vigyan Bhavan Delhi where GCCBA, Sector- 50, Chandigarh was ranked Vth out of these 20 Best Institutes. Out of 400 Best Volunteers 3 students of the college (Ms. Sahi Aggarwal, Mr. Paramjit Singh Hunjan and Mr. Saksham Verma) along with the Principal Mrs Manjit Kaur were invited to receive the Award for OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN DIGITAL FINANCIAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN on behalf of the institute. Sahi Aggarwal of GCCBA Sector- 50 Chandigarh was placed at FIFTH position for her exceptional performance. The dignitaries who presented the awards were Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Central Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad (Union Minister of Law and Justice) and Mr K K Sharma, Secretary, MHRD.
