The 7th Annual Convocation and 10th Prize Distribution Function was held in Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh today. Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration (U.T.) was the chief guest on the occasion. He congratulated the graduates and prize winners and applauded the efforts for the holistic development of the students. He highlighted the role of life skills and value system to be an achiever at work place was more important than only receiving academic degrees. Mrs Manjit Kaur, the Principal of the College, presented the Annual Report of the college highlighting the achievements of the students who have excelled in the fields of academics and co-curricular activities during the session 2016-17. Prof. Rosy Walia, Dean, presented the students of M.COM, B.COM and BBA for award of Degrees to the graduates. Around 225 degrees were awarded to the students of M.COM, B.COM (Hons in finance and E-Commerce), B.Com (pass course) and BBA. Six students were awarded Roll of Honour in Academics, Sports and NSS. 37 students were awarded College Colour and 59 students were awarded Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievements in academics, sports, NSS and co-curricular activities. NSS Unit of GCCBA-,Sector-50, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Function with great zeal and enthusiasm on 22 April, 2017. Dr Bikram Rana, State Liaison Officer, Chandigarh Administration was the chief guest on the occasion. Students performed various activities like Poetry Recitation, Musical Band Performance, Bhangra and Stand up performance. Principal Mrs Manjit Kaur praised the students for making contributions in Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan, an MHRD project where three NSS student volunteers bagged positions in top 100 volunteers and the College stood at 5th position out of 4500 institutions all over India. The Chief Guest encouraged the NSS volunteers to understand their social responsibility to translate theory of class room learning in teaching the society and the weak. He also urged the teachers to make moral values as part of their class room teaching. Dr Bikramjit Kaur, NSS Coordinator highlighted the various activities of NSS Unit during the year.
To bid adieu to the final year students of B.Com, BBA and M.Com a farewell party was organized by Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh on 21 April, 2017. The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers to reminisce joyous moments. The students performed kaleidoscope of activities like group dance, songs and comic performances and put up a great show to bid farewell to their seniors. Dr Rosy Walia, Dean of College graced the occasion as the chief guest and wished luck to the students for their future endeavours. She motivated them to work hard and bring laurels for themselves, their families and also remain connected to the institution. The students enjoyed a lot and departed from college with heavy hearts.
