The Placement Cell of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh organized a placement drive for the final year students of M.Com, B.Com and BBA. A total of about 200 students attended the presentation of the two companies ‘Tata strive’ and ‘ALIANTHUS’. The company representatives from H.R. Department were happy with the skills of the students and the process of selection was through short listing and Personal Interviews. Finally 110 students were selected by Tata Strive company and 17 students were selected by ALIANTHUS. The Placement In-charge, Mr. Amarpreet Sijher Vice Principal of the College, and his team also mentioned that generally the placement drive will also be extended to the interested alumni and students of the Institute in the tri-city.
Gender Sensitization Society (Jagriti) of Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector-50, Chandigarh in collaboration with Traffic Police, Chandigarh organised an Awareness campaign to persuade women riders to wear helmet while driving on the eve of International Women’s Day. Mr Rajinder, Head Constable initiated the event by imparting knowledge about the traffic rules. Sh Rajiv Ambastha, DSP, South Traffic and his team highlighted that in last five years 116 women have lost their lives in accidents out of which maximum were two-wheeler riders. He also emphasized that women do not want to wear helmet because it hides their beauty. Inspector Sita Devi, Chandigarh Traffic Police distributed helmets to the girl students and stickers with message saying ‘Helmet saves her head too’ and made women drivers aware about the benefits of wearing helmet while riding two wheelers.
Government College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector 50, Chandigarh celebrated its Annual Sports Day with incredible zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Dr Manjit Kaur inaugurated the function who was also the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion she commended the role of sports in one’s life and how sports can help the students to achieve the unachievable by developing the dedication and discipline in the field of sports. She felt happy to see the jubilant response of the viewers and students and congratulated them for their participation. She also praised Mohit of B.Com I Semester who had won Gold Medal in All India Inter University Roller Sports Championship and Bronze Medal in Panjab University Inter College Roller Sports Tournament. Further She also congratulated College Basketball (Women) team for winning Bronze Medal in Panjab University Inter College Basketball Tournament held at Panjab University and College Basketball (Men) team for wining Bronze Medal in Panjab University Inter College Basketball Tournament held in Narangwal (Ludhiana).
Various track and field events and games were organised. Fun games like Musical chair, Balloon Race One leg race, Skipping, Spoon and Lemon race , Back race, Slow Cycle race, Shot-put and Long Jump were specifically enjoyed by the spectators. The prize distribution function was conducted by Dean Prof (Dr) Rosy Walia. At the end, Dr Rajiv Salwan, Sports In-charge and Registrar, College Examination, presented the vote of thanks.
