The students and staff of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh, under the leadership of Dr. Manjit Kaur, Principal, celebrated Fit India Movement in the college campus on 29 August 2019. This nation-wide campaign aims to motivate Indians to inculcate physical activity and sports as part of their routine.
The celebration began with the pledge being taken by all those present in the college conference room. It was followed by the live telecast of the proceedings of the special programme at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex in New Delhi. Around 100 students viewed the transmission. The Prime Minister had earlier in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ address asked people to take part in the ‘Fit India Movement’. The audience listened to the speech of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India with a lot of enthusiasm in which he emphasised the role of physical activities on the special occasion of International Sports Day.
After the speech of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, the audience was taken out for a rally. In this rally, there were more than 300 participants, who took a round of the college campus jubilantly.
