A blood donation camp and organ donation awareness campaign was organised by the NSS Unit of the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh on Monday, February 3rd, 2020. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, State Bank of India and Shri Shiv Kawad Mahasangh Trust, Panchkula.
The Principal of the College, Prof (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal, Dean, Mr. Amarpreet Singh Sijher, Registrar (Examination), Dr. Bikramjeet Kaur, Head Of Department of Physical Education, Dr.Ajit Singh, Mr. Yogesh Kumar, NSS Programme Officers, Dr.Manoj Kumar Bhambu and Dr.Renuka Mehra along with other staff members formally welcomed the team from PGI, comprising Doctors and assisting staff members and members of Shri Shiv Kawad Mahasangh Trust(NGO). Students were motivated to donate blood and organs for a noble cause.
The blood donation camp began at 9:30 am where NSS volunteers actively participated in managing as well as donating blood. The staff members along with donors from college and public donated 45 units of blood and 38 volunteers pledged organ donation. The team of experts from P. G. I. carried out awareness campaign regrading organ donation by interacting with all the students of the college. They visited every classroom and distributed Form 7-For Organ/Tissue Pledging. The NSS volunteers thanked the donors. The donors received certificates issued by P. G. I. and Red Cross and gifts, which were sponsored by SBI.
