Gender sensitization Society “JAGRITI”, Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh celebrated International Women’s Day by organising a special lecture on Women Health Right issues on 6th March, 2020.The key resource person on the occasion was Dr. Kirtan Rana, MD, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh. He was welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal, Principal, GCCBA-50, Chd, Dr. V. Magesh, Vice Principal of the college, the staff and students. Dr. Rana shared valuable insights on women’s health rights. He enlightened the gathering on issues like, menstrual hygiene, reproductive organs and complications related to these. He also mentioned that female health is much more important but has been neglected for a long time. Taking the opportunity provided by the occasion, he also shared the much needed and timely inputs on signs and symptoms of Corona Virus and effective ways of its prevention.

On the second day of celebration, the GCCBA staff organised activities revolving around the theme of IWD 2020 i. e. “Generation Equality; Realizing Women Rights”. The event began with felicitation of two key female figures of the institution; Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal And Registrar, Dr. Bikramjeet Kaur by Dean, Mr. Amarpreet Singh Sijher and Vice Principal Dr V. Magesh.

This was followed by an open-mic event, where everyone present participated in the discussion based on “gender stereotypes” in our society. A rich and healthy exchange of views was carried out. This included the inputs from the students of the college. The other activities included Antakshari, Musical Chairs and Cake Cutting ceremony jointly executed by the male and female staff of the college.
