Government College of Commerce and Business Administration (GCCBA), Sector 50, Chandigarh, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15 August 2026, honouring the sacrifices of freedom fighters and instilling the values of unity, responsibility, and nation-building among students. The celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Principal Dr Sangam Kapoor, alongside Dean Prof (Dr) Punam Agarwal and Vice-Principal Dr Amarpreet Singh Sijher, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, after which the Principal addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of independence, the progress achieved over the years, and the role of youth in shaping the future of the nation in line with the 2026 themes of “150 Years of Vande Mataram” and “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047”. She highlighted the role of women in the making of modern India. All faculty members and administrative staff were present to grace the occasion and motivate students, while a vibrant cultural programme featuring patriotic songs, speeches, dances, and a short skit portraying the struggles of freedom fighters showcased students’ talents and love for the country. The event concluded with the entire gathering standing in unison to sing the National Anthem, filling the air with pride and commitment, followed by the distribution of sweets among students and staff, marking the end of a memorable celebration.
