The Government College of Commerce & Business Administration (GCCBA), Sector-50, Chandigarh, proudly observed Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) today, with a meaningful event jointly organised by the NSS Units and the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC).

The ceremony commenced with the reading of preamble to uphold the ideals of the Indian Constitution, led by Principal Prof. Dr. Nisha Aggarwal, joined by NSS Girls Programme Officer Ms. Aanchal Malik, Nodal Officer of ELC Dr. Renuka Mehra, along with staff and students. In her address, the Principal emphasized the vital role of the Constitution in shaping India’s democracy, highlighting the indispensable work carried out by the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and civil servants in carrying forward constitutional values. She also inspired everyone with a message of unity, future-building, and commitment to an environmentally conscious India.

As part of the celebrations, an inter-class quiz on the Constitution was organised in a hybrid format, with 40 students participating offline on campus and 280 students joining online. This quiz helped foster constitutional literacy among the student body.

The Electoral Literacy Club further enriched the event by organising an essay contest and a jingle-writing competition under the theme “Indian Modern Politics – Make Democracy Heart Beat”. The best entries from each contest were awarded medals and a cash prize of ₹200, recognizing creative and thoughtful engagement with democratic themes. The winner were Ms Anjali, MCOM 2 for Essay and Mr Jatin Dhull for Jingle competition.

The event concluded on a solemn and patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem, reaffirming the college community’s commitment to constitutional ideals.

This year, GCCBA’s Constitution Day celebration not only commemorated the adoption of the Constitution but also strengthened students’ awareness of their rights, duties, and the democratic fabric of the nation.
