The NSS Units of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration (GCCBA), Sector-50, Chandigarh, marked Diwali 2025 with a compassionate outreach initiative in their adopted village, Kajheri. Volunteers from NSS donated essential items such as biscuits, socks, stationery, chocolates, soaps, handwash sachets, and traditional diyas to the residents of the Kajheri slum area. This thoughtful gesture aimed to spread festive cheer while promoting the values of sustainability and inclusivity through a “Green Diwali” celebration.
To further amplify the message of environmental responsibility, NSS, in collaboration with the Environment Society–Avni, Eco Club, and Bal Sarthi Club, a poster-making competition and an anti-cracker rally were organized. The rally, flagged off by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal, Dean Dr. Sangam Kapoor, and Vice Principal Prof. (Dr.) Punam Agarwal, saw enthusiastic participation from 50 NSS volunteers, staff members, and students. Led by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Yogesh, Ms. Aanchal Malik, and Dr. Renuka Mehra, the rally moved through Sectors 50, 51, and 52, raising awareness about the harmful effects of firecrackers. Students carried vibrant posters and chanted catchy slogans like “Oye Kake No Pathake,” encouraging the community to embrace a cracker-less Diwali.
The initiative concluded with a poster presentation in Kajheri, reinforcing the themes of a “Green, Noise-Free, and Plastic-Free Diwali.” Through this campaign, the college community not only celebrated the festival of lights but also took a meaningful step toward building a cleaner and more conscious society. The NSS Units of GCCBA continue to lead by example, inspiring others to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat. 2047 through acts of kindness, creativity, and environmental stewardship.
