The orientation day at Government College of Commerce & Business Administration,
Chandigarh, for the 2025–26 session began with heartfelt welcomes by Prof. Dr  Nisha
Aggarwal, VicePrincipal Dr Amarpreet S Sijher, Registrar (Exams) Dr V Magesh, and faculty,
who outlined the college’s academic goals, campus ethos, and robust student support systems.
The Principal delivered a powerful address, declaring unequivocally that ragging in any form
is strictly forbidden—being a criminal offence under central and state laws, as well as UGC
regulations, enforceable with stringent penalties. She emphasized the college’s zero-tolerance
stance, supported by mandatory affidavits from all freshers and parents, proactive anti-
ragging committees and squads, and routine surprise checks. This framework is designed to
foster a secure, inclusive, and respectful environment.
The session also featured a detailed introduction to the National Education Policy (NEP)
2020’s credit-based system by the NEP Coordinator, highlighting its focus on learner-centric
curricula, flexibility, internships, and Outcome-Based Education to nurture holistic
competencies and real-world skills. Subsequently, department heads of Commerce,
Management, and Computer Applications outlined their curricula and examination systems.
Representatives of NSS Units, clubs, and societies presented their activities, followed by a
showcase of student achievements from the past year to inspire the newcomers. Ice-breaker
and peer-mentoring activities led by senior students helped build camaraderie, and a guided
campus tour introduced classrooms, libraries, computer labs, sports facilities, Career
Counseling, and the AntiRagging Committee. The orientation concluded with participants
leaving informed and empowered—aware of academic expectations, enriched by available
resources, and inspired to contribute to a safe, ethical campus culture aligned with the vision
of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, civic engagement, and lifelong learning.
