The 15th Annual Prize Distribution Function was held today with great zeal and enthusiasm at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms. Prerna Puri, a distinguished IAS officer and the UT Education Secretary of Chandigarh, whose presence added prestige to the occasion.
The dignitary was warmly welcomed by Dr. Shashi Wahi, Principal of the college, along with Dr. Sangam Kapoor, Dean, and Dr. Amar Preet Singh Sijher,Vice Principal, accompanied by the dedicated faculty and staff of the institution.
Dr. Shashi Wahi, in her address, presented the Annual Report of the college, eloquently highlighting the remarkable accomplishments of both faculty and students during the academic year 2023–2024. She underscored the college’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
In her keynote address, Ms. Prerna Puri emphasized the vital role of life skills and core values in the educational journey of students. She advocated for a holistic approach to education, one that nurtures not only intellectual growth but also character, resilience, and emotional intelligence. Her inspirational words resonated deeply with the audience, reminding students of the significance of perseverance, integrity, and adaptability in navigating both professional pathways and life’s broader challenges.
In recognition of exemplary achievements, the college conferred the Roll of Honour on 8 outstanding students for their exceptional contributions in academics, sports, and cultural activities. Additionally, 38 students were awarded the prestigious College Colour, while 65 students received the Certificate of Merit for their distinguished performance across diverse domains including academics, NSS, sports, and co-curricular pursuits. Mr. Pranav Aggarwal, B. Com. 6th Semester was given the Student of the Year Award.
The event concluded on a gracious note with Dr. V. Magesh, Registrar (Examination), extending heartfelt congratulations to all awardees and applauding their relentless efforts and dedication. The ceremony culminated with the soulful rendition of the Indian National Anthem, symbolizing unity, pride, and the collective spirit of excellence that defines the institution.
