Out of the total college strength of 826 students; 483 students cast their votes which was 58.47% polling strength. Out of which 31 votes were NOTA and 33 votes were Invalid. Elections were conducted peacefully.

The Training, Placement, and Counseling Cell of GCCBA-50, under the commendable leadership, guidance, and support of Dr. Sangam Kapoor (Principal) & Dr. Amarpreet S. Sijher (Dean), successfully organized a Campus Placement Drive. The event was supervised by Dr. Aarti Kaushal (TPC Convener), alongside the esteemed faculty team members Dr. Kriti Mahajan & Mr. Manjeet Singh. The dedicated team of student placement coordinators demonstrated exceptional passion and commitment in managing and executing the drive.
The Campus Placement Drive witnessed an impressive turnout of students who actively participated in the recruitment process. A total of 22 renowned companies participated in the event, including
names such as Escalon, Pataaree, Times of India, IndusInd, SPM Wealth, BRGHT and Co, Novique, Hitbullseye, Aditya Birla, Ellocent, AECC, AU bank, TopRankers, and TalentGro.
The recruitment process encompassed multiple rounds of interviews and assessments, ensuring the selection of the best talent for the various job roles offered by the participating companies. We are
delighted to announce that a total of185 students appeared and 166 have been shortlisted for placements across diverse domains and functions.
This achievement stands as a testament to the calibre and preparedness of our students and reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff towards fostering successful career opportunities for our students.
Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh celebrated its 14th Annual Athletic Meet with zeal and enthusiasm, which was declared OPEN by the Principal of
College, Dr. Sangam Kapoor. She, along with the staff and students of the college, welcomed the Chief Guest for the day, Shri Chander Bhushan Ojha, Chief Engineer, Engineering Department, Chandigarh
Administration. She exhorted the sportspersons to “compete with honour, cheer with enthusiasm, and above all, let us cherish the bonds of friendship and unity that unite us as one college community.” Dr. Amarpreet S. Sijher, Dean, and Convener (Sports) read the annual report of the Sports Department, highlighting the achievements during the current session. On this occasion, various track events, team events, field events, and fun games were organised. The special event of the day included the demonstration of Sikh Martial Art Gatka before the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest, in his address to the sportspersons, asked them to “showcase their skills, push their limits, and embrace the thrill of victory and the lessons of defeat.” He distributed certificates, medals, and trophies to the winners. He blessed all the participants and assured the students that he would make the best possible efforts to meet the infrastructural needs of the college.
Ms. Kanchan Kumari of BCA Second year (girls) and Mr. Aman Singh Rawat of BCA First year (boys) were declared the overall best athletes. At the end, Dr. V. Magesh, Vice Principal of the College,
presented the vote of thanks.
Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh, organized a One Day National Seminar sponsored by the College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh, centered on the theme “The Current State and Outlook of Financial Markets in India.” Under the adept guidance of Dr. Sangam Kapoor, Principal cum Chief Patron of the event, the seminar brought together eminent personalities and experts in the field of finance.
The seminar featured distinguished Chief Guests for technical Session-I and Session-II: Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kaushik from University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Prof. Dr. Keshav Malhotra, Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, respectively. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh from University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dr. Amar Preet Singh Sijher chaired technical Session-I, while Prof. Dr. B.B. Goyal from University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dr. Amandeep Verma, Associate Professor cum Chairperson from the Central University of Haryana, chaired technical session–II. Dr. Mukesh Chouhan from Postgraduate Government College,
Sector -46, Chandigarh, delivered the keynote address during the inaugural session.
Dr. V. Magesh, Vice Principal cum Organizing Secretary of the seminar, introduced the Chief Guest, and Dr. Subina Syal, Co-organizing Secretary of the seminar, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks. The seminar aimed to foster quality research and provide a platform for researchers, academicians, industry executives, and entrepreneurs to exchange insights on finance-related topics. Participants engaged in technical sessions covering various interdisciplinary themes such as Global Financial Markets
and Instruments, Trading Strategy in Emerging Markets, Behavioral Finance, Development Finance, Financial Inclusion, Banking and Financial Stability, Derivatives, and Financial Literacy. Approximately 60 participants registered for the seminar, contributing to vibrant discussions and knowledge sharing. The students of the college benefited a lot from this seminar.
WRITING, AND SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN
Electoral Literacy Club of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector- 50, Chandigarh, organised three different activities to spread awareness and encourage young voters
to vote in upcoming General Elections, 2024. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr Dinesh Rana, Election Supervisor (South), The Principal of the College, Dr Sangam Kapoor, welcomed him. The first activity was carried out to exhibit, “No Voter to be left behind”, through lightening of 251 diyas, and flower petals by the Chief Guest, Principal, Dean, Dr Amarpreet S Sijher, Dr Renuka Mehra,
Nodal Officer, Electoral Literacy Club and students of the college. They also signed a pledge on the flex, “I will vote for sure in Elections, 2024”. The second activity was a quiz tilted Gyan Pradhan
which 40 students participated. The winners were, Ms Mehak, Mr Gaurang, and Mr Sanyam. The third activity was, Heena and Tattoo making competition with the theme of “Voting Message”,
drawing on hands and arms. The judges were-Dr Bikramjit Kaur, Dr Aarti Kaushal, and Ms Aanchal Malik. There were 20 students who participated in this competition. The winners of the event were-
1 st -Ms Dinky and Ms Ankshita, 2 nd -Ms Riya Verma and Ms Simran, & 3 rd -Ms Krisha and Ms Kanan. The Chief Guest addressed the students on “Voting rights” and congratulated the Electoral Literacy Club team for conducting the series of competitions. The winners were awarded certificates.
Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh in collaboration with Nivedita, a non-profit organisation organised an “Awareness Session on Millets-Aahaar Kranti Mission”. The speakers of the day were: the Chief Guest, Shri Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, IAS Retd., Chairman, National Council for Vocational Education and Training; the Guest of Honour, Shri Dharam Pal, IAS, Advisor to Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Pradeep Joshi, the Keynote speaker, Akhil Bhartiya Sah Sampark Parmukh, and Dr. Varinder Garg, OSD to Union Health Minister and a renowned radiologist at PGI, Chandigarh.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting Deepshikha by eminent personalities present on the occasion. The Principal of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh, Dr. Sangam Kapoor warmly welcomed all the dignitaries and introduced them.
It was followed by the address of Dr. Lipika, who introduced the mission, Aahaar Kranti, in terms of dhee, dharti & dharohar.Shri Pardeep Joshi highlighted the traditional role of maternal power in India. He advised the audience to be empathic towards the cause of women in order to grow as a nation. The Chief Guest, Shri Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi emphasised the fact that mother nature begins with agriculture and leads to sustainable development. He stressed the essential need to own a native language, food and culture. He cited numerous examples of well-known prominent women in the history of India. He also enumerated the nutritious values of sorghum, Pearl millet and finger millet. The Guest of Honour, Shri Dharam Pal propounded the concept of “Jaisa Ann Vaisa Man”. He informed the audience that millets are rich sources of fibre, minerals, iron, phosphorous, etc. Ms. Guneet Swani, a famous writer, quoted, “Millet a day will keep climate at bay.” She was in favour of initiating a thirty-person awareness chain for millets.
After the lectures, a pledge was administered to various restaurant owners, and they were felicitated for their dynamic contributions. Dr. Varinder Garg summarized the session and highlighted the role of Nivedita as a catapult in offering opportunities to help women realize that they are the real architects of life.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sapna Nanda, the Principal, Government College of Education, which was followed by the recitation of the Indian National Anthem.

Out of the total college strength of 850students; 536 students cast their votes which was 63.06% polling strength. Mr Sahil secured 332 votes & Mr Arshdeep secured 188 votes as Presidents. Mr. Hardik secured 258 votes, Ms. Mehak secured 170 & Mr. Rahul secured 94 as Vice Presidents.
The sportspersons and NSS units of the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector 50, Chandigarh, organized sports events on the occasion of National Sports Day. This initiative was conceived by the Principal of the College, Dr. Sangam Kapoor. The event began with an opening ceremony that included a pledge by the NSS volunteers; after that, a seminar on physical fitness was organized. The resource person on the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Mulana Abul Kalam Chair and former Director of the Department of Physical Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was greeted by the Principal of the College, Dr. Sangam Kapoor, and other staff members. He shared very important points through his presentation regarding the importance of sports for a human being and the role of a healthy diet. After the lecture, he interacted with the audience and answered their queries. He flagged off a rally. A tug-of-war competition was organized after the rally by the NSS units of GCCBA-50. The NSS volunteers and participants were divided into two teams. Everyone enjoyed this tug-of-war competition. In addition to this, other sporting activities were also conducted. The NSS Sports Day Celebration proved to be a great success in promoting physical activity, teamwork, and a sense of sportsmanship. The event not
only provided a platform for healthy competition but also strengthened the bonds between NSS volunteers and other participants. The central highlight of the event was to promote physical fitness and team spirit among the NSS volunteers and participants. There were nearly 70 volunteers who participated in the celebrations.
The NSS Units of GCCBA-50 organised a Yoga Session for the staff and the students of the college on 21st June, 2023 on the occasion of “9th International Yoga Day”. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Pardeep Kumar Agnihotri. He is a highly accomplished individual in the field of yoga. He is a Yoga Therapist and Naturopath certified by the Indian Yoga Association. He was welcomed by the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Punam Agarwal and N S S Programme Officer, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma. He delivered a discourse on Yoga and demonstrated various yoga poses. The volunteers contributed by making their videos performing various asanas and by taking Pledge on Yoga Day. The NSS units also participated in inter-college Quiz and Poster Making Competition. They made wonderful posters, clearly depicting the theme in those posters. One could see and feel the enthusiasm and their effort that the students had put in their posters. The activity kept the student engaged and gave them a platform to explore their creativity and showcase their skills. The winners of the competition were –
